América - España Solidaridad y Cooperación (AESCO)

AESCO was created in 1991 and declared of public utility eight years later. It was created for the purpose of fostering solidarity through projects of development cooperation between Europe and Latin America and to promote programs of social action aimed at collectives in situation of vulnerability.

AESCO's social aim is to:
a. Encourage and cultivate friendship, solidarity, cooperation and development between peoples from Europe and America in general.
b. Promote projects of social development through support to marginalized, disadvantaged or excluded individuals and groups because of poverty, illness, drug-dependency, age, gender, legal situation, criminal situation, prostitution, illiteracy, racism, xenophobia and more, regardless of their dwelling place.
c. Support initiatives concerning sustainable development.
d. Foster interculturality.
e. Promote immigrants´ human rights offering information, orientation and legal advisory services.
f. Cooperate with public organizations in order to help underprivileged, dependent, excluded groups or those in situation of social or psychosocial necessity.

AESCO´s key activity within its social objective is to:
1. Organize, promote and support all types of initiatives in favor of peoples from America in general and Colombia particularly, aiming at reaching a human and sustainable development and a deepening of democracy and human rights.
2. Spread and promote cultural values, sensitizing about the socio-economic reality of the most underprivileged regions.
3. Sensitize and foster fair trade for the sake of a best reciprocity in the international economic relations and of the reduction of the gap between North and South.
4. Promote the citizen participation of immigrants in Spain and in other European countries.
5. Promote social and labour integration enhancement and support through activities of intercultural education in order to foster equal opportunities through actions emphasizing gender perspective.
6. Promote education for a just peace helping the Colombian peace process, encouraging the defense and promotion of human rights and international humanitarian right with impartiality and objectivity.
7. Help initiatives from underprivileged collectives in order to improve their living-conditions and possibilities.
8. Use means of communication in order to facilitate information and to raise awareness of the social reality of these underprivileged persons.
9. Spread values such as solidarity, social justice, and respect between human-beings.
10. Promote formation and training for volunteerism through documentation, talks and courses.
11. Promote and develop any kind of projects related to their objectives.
12. Support the acquisition or recovery of personal abilities and capacities which facilitate self-unfoldment and participation in the social life of individuals.
13. Any other activity oriented towards the benefit of people from the collectives mentioned.
