Amazonas was established in 2004. to encourage personal development and personal and social change through movement, creativity and cooperation.

The goals of the Association are:
*to encourage the development of creative and social potentials of children, youth and adults
*to promote cultural and other diversity, tolerance and understanding
*to encourage a healthy lifestyle, physical activity and recreational sports
*to encourage social solidarity, enable socially excluded groups to be involved and actively participate in the community
*to prevent unacceptable behaviour of children and young people
*to promote non-violence and peace-building
*to promote capoeira and other aspects of Afro-Brazilian culture
*to strengthen intercultural cooperation
*to encourage active participation and mobility of young people

Our work is concentrated in three main fields:
1. Social support - programs and project for kids, youngsters and families in risk (mostly local projects in cooperation with Social welfare centres and schools). One of the main method we use is capoeira and sport/physical activity as a tool for development of social skills.
2. Active and mobile youth - aim of this field is to give opportunity to youngsters (especially ones with fewer opportunities) to improve and gain new skills and knowledge (various workshops like learning foreign languages, communication skills, CV etc.) and promotion of mobility of young people (Erasmus+ K1, ESS).
3. Lifelong learning - educations for experts and development of the education materials for experts in youth field, psyche- social support field, teachers etc. (specific educations, Erasmus+ K1 and K2)
In both fields (2nd and 3rd) main method is non - formal education.

In our work, we are largely focused on social groups at risk and with reduced opportunities (children and youth with behavioural problems, children and youth at risk, families at risk). In order to make our projects as successful and high quality as possible, we cooperate with many associations, institutions and centres in the country, region, Europe and the world.
