Aluksne Children and Youth Centre

Aluksne Children and Youth Centre (ACYC) is an education institution established by Aluksne Municipality in 2002. ACYC aims to promote children and youth initiatives, participation in public decision making and social life and development of knowledge, skills and positive attitudes according to their age, needs and interests. The fields ACYC is working in:
1. Youth work-providing information, facilitation of youth initiatives and non-formal learning activities. ACYC staff is cooperation with youngsters in organizing workshops, training courses, youth forums, youth days, `summer school` for youngsters, new artist`s exhibitions, voluntary work and charity actions. There is a computers and audio equipment available for young people to develop their skills and own musical, audio and visual projects.
2. Interest education and free time activities for children and youth. There are around 600 participants every year involved in various regular hobby groups (theatre, folk-dances, modern dances, singing, drums, LEGOrobotics etc.) in age 1,5-19. The Centre is organizing summer camps and different creative workshops for children, concerts and other events.
3.Coordinating youth work in Aluksne district.
4. Local, national and European level projects. In adition ACYC provides open space for youth to spend their free time by playing table-tennis, novus, other table games, using internet access. ACYC has close contacts with all education and other public institutions (Aluksne secondary school, Aluksne State gymnasium, Aluksne State primary school, Aluksne sport, music and art schools, Social support centre, Aluksne and Ape Community Foundation, Aluksne NGO support centre) of our town, Aluksne and Ape municipalities. There are 5 office workers, 1 technical worker in ACYC and around 10 teachers working with hobby groups every week.
