Among Diputación de Almería objectives and specifically the Section for European Initiatives and Economic Development and the Youth Departement we try to promote the participatory movement and volunteering among young people of the province and to stimulate their feeling for european citizenship.

The European Projects Unit manages the European information and awareness service of Diputación and provincial councils that request it, responding to the demand of administrations, entities, and citizens. It is also concerned with stimulating the awareness of active European citizenship, through information and promotion. The goal is to inform citizens about their rights and ways of exercising them, as well as about the opportunities offered by the different community programmes. Fundamentally, it is about promoting the right of citizens to have information about Europe and helping them to participate actively in the democratic integration of the European Union.
We have experience in activities connected to entrepreneurship, employment, innovation and digitalization since this is an area of our organisations’ expertise. Diputación de Almería views training as an essential way to bring Europe closer to the province. That is why one of the priorities of training is to develop the professionalism of human resources in European matters in our territory and the municipalities that comprise it, to ensure that they participate knowledgeably in the European debate.
Likewise, due to the specialisation required in the management of European issues, it is essential to have permanent training programmes.
Based on the above, the European Initiatives Unit manages, coordinates, and participates in training activities in community matters in collaboration with the Department of Training of the Area of Human Resources and Internal Regime of the Diputación, with the University of Almería, and with local development groups of the province. “À la carte” training is also offered within this service, which aims to satisfy more specific training demands of the provincial council and local entities of the province, or specialised groups on specific aspects of “European reality”.
The European Projects Unit undertakes actions at the following management levels:
• Creation of project proposals for the areas of Diputación, provincial councils, provincial entities, and citizens in general
• Creation of proposals for participation in European programmes/initiatives
• Coordination and execution of projects approved with European funding to the provincial institution
• Execution of collaboration agreements with provincial, regional, and national entities with competences in community issues and European networks
Advisory services are a resource that the European Projects Unit provides to local corporations, provincial entities, and citizens in order to advise them on the requirements imposed by different financial instruments in the European Union. Various levels of advisory services are available:
Technical support for the creation and development of projects
Advice on specific issues related to the operation of community institutions
Search for transnational partners and monitoring of cooperation
Technical assistance during the execution of projects/actions related to the European Union.
