Group gymnastics at the Cerco’s school began around 90’s. At that time, the main goals were to fill students' leisure time, to create a sportive taste and to cooperate with other schools. However, after about three years, this small activity for a small group of students has developed into a School project. The work was increasingly successful, the results increased, as the relationship between students and teachers. This becam an enormous prestige for the group and consequently for the school, led to the group being raised the their aims. Increasingly, the group was able to avoid school failure, drop out of school, promote healthy lifestyles, promote laughter and smile of those who have nothing and live in a disadvantaged social environment.
The group has been evolved in order to gain better results and more and more practitioners. What was a small group became a "gymnastics machine", in which the more grown up teach the younger ones, in the streets of the neighborhood come kids doing gymnastic exercises, and this tradition goes from father to children and to take To the success of the group. Some students, by the model of the project mentor, Professor Sérgio Silva, follow the sports career and today are teachers as well, and are thankful for the teachings.
The Gymnastics group is divided into four groups: the A, B, C, D depending on the degree of feasibility they perform and depending on the level they reach. Work is done by levels of learning. When students reach a certain level they change it.  The age of the students in the group ranges from 8 years to 20 years. The activity is free and complements school education. Each student in the group or other school groupings may participate in the group.

The working conditions are optimal for a School, we enjoy a 14x14 practicable, which was offered to us due to the extraordinary participation of our group. At this time the group has to practice gymnastics about 80 students. The group participates in the Sports School Championships, Federated sport and as a guest at some sporting events.
Noteworthy achievements in school sports, being district, regional and national champions. At the federative level we participate in initiation tournaments, opening tournaments, district championships, qualifying competitions, national championships, Inter-selections and Taça de Portugal.
At the level of sports events the group has participated in sports presentations, social events, celebrations and also participated in the television program "GOT Tallent".
What is wanted to join us on this platform is to be able to acquire more experience and give these students the possibility to make known to others their wonderful commitment and success ... to contribute to your success ... .and your smiles. Make them forget the adversities where they live and worship the school and the group "Gymnastics family" to which they belong.

Professor Sérgio, the teacher responsible for this group, intends to continue the success and references he has been developing in this school, and in the national sporting arena, and essentially give incentive and create foundations for the realization of future projects involving problematic students.
