European Students' Forum AEGEE (Association des États Généraux des Étudiants de l'Europe) is the largest interdisciplinary student organisation in Europe. It was established in 1985 and currently has around 13,000 members in more than 200 local groups (Antennae).
AEGEE promotes an equal, democratic and unified Europe, open to all across national borders. Several hundred conferences, trainings and cultural events are organised across the network every year, and AEGEE also advocates for the needs and interests of European students.
AEGEE Novi Sad is one of the 240 AEGEE antennas. It is founded in 1997 and its members are mainly students and young people by the age of 30. Antenna in Novi Sad has worked actively since its launching and has successfully organized and participated in many projects during the years of its existence.
The subjects of the special focus for AEGEE Novi Sad in the following years string along with the focuses of AEGEE Europe and are:
1. Spreading Europtimism,
2. Youth Employment,
3. Youth Mobility,
4. Civic Education.
AEGEE empowers students and young people in Europe to take an active role in society. It creates a space for dialogue and learning opportunities as well as acts as their representative towards decision-makers
AEGEE organises a wide range of projects which can be categorized by these means:
- Intercultural exchanges
- Personal development and non-formal education
- Thematic projects
- Advocacy and policy
- Forum for discussion
AEGEE Europe is currently actively carrying out 7 main projects which are: Summer University Project, Eastern Partnership Project, Y Vote 2014, Health4Youth, EuroArab, Europe in Exchange and Youth unEmployment.
AEGEE Novi Sad is focuses special attention to 2 of the 7 current projects, namely:
- Europe in Exchange, which aims to make students better informed about mobility programs and possibilities, as well as the benefits of these. Through the activities of AEGEE locals, the project team aims to increase the number of destinations and possibilities for mobility in universities inside and outside the current Erasmus zone, and lobbies in universities for implementing easier procedures and more clear guidelines for applying for mobility programs and respect the Erasmus Student Charter. Moreover, on the European level, Europe in Exchange lobbies for an adequate structure and funding of the mobility programs, including countries outside of the current Erasmus area.
and
- Youth unEmployment, the project that wants to tackle the problems such as: unrecognition of the work of the young people by their university and their future employers and helping students to face a trade-off between their academic and non-academic commitment more easily.
The idea for doing this is by implementing a series of activities that will help young people increase their employability and will lobby for the recognition of voluntary work and non-formal education as work experience.
Having this in mind, AEGEE Novi Sad is especially interested to participate/be partners of the projects that are in accordance with our aims and strivings.
