Adana Guidance and Rehabilitation Closed Penitentiary is a dedicated public institution operating under the Turkish Ministry of Justice, established under a mandate to address Substance Use Disorder (SUD) among convicted individuals. Our facility functions as one of Türkiye's first specialized closed penitentiary models focused exclusively on the treatment and comprehensive rehabilitation of these individuals, rather than solely punitive measures.
Our mission is centered on a restorative and person-centered approach, aiming to facilitate the physical, psychological, and social empowerment of inmates to prevent reoffending and achieve successful social reintegration. This is achieved through the application of scientifically-based interventions, including the development and continuous monitoring of Individualized Rehabilitation Plans (IRPs).
The institution employs a robust multidisciplinary team essential for this specialized work, composed of over 140 professionals, including six Psychologists, one Social Worker, one Teacher, administrative staff, and a large body of correctional officers who actively serve as field-level youth workers. This collective expertise allows us to execute various psychosocial programs, vocational training workshops, and family support services, positioning us as an innovative model for holistic rehabilitation within the justice system.
Project Aim: To enhance local youth work quality by leveraging innovative international practices in the fight against addiction.
