Aberdeen City Council is one of Scotland's 32 local government council areas and the United Kingdom's 37th most populous built-up area, with an official population estimate of over 228,000. Approximately 17,000 people within Aberdeen City are 16-25 years olds

In 2014, we introduced Aberdeen Guarantees as a partnership approach to promoting local training and employment opportunities and initiatives which were targeted at 14-25 years old. Aberdeen Guarantees promotes local opportunities through online communications through our website (www.aberdeenguarantees.com ) social media (www.facebook.com/aberdeenguarantees , www.twitter.com/abguarantees ) and through a weekly newsletter to education staff, youth work staff and to partner organisations across the city.

We have also used Aberdeen Guarantees as a way to engaging with local businesses which has broadened work placement opportunities for young people within the city.

Within Aberdeen, we also manage the Activity Agreements programme which engages young people (16-19 years old) in activities which are of interest to them, broadening their interactions with local services. We have also started to pilot a Youth Aspirations survey to capture young people’s views and to use feedback to shape our local education and training offer. 2015/16 has been the first year that we have run this survey with strategic summary reports being provided to education establishments and strategic employability partnerships in 2016.

Through Erasmus + - we would welcome opportunities to participate in professional discussions to learn and share from best practice across the EU in promoting training and employment opportunities for young people and approaches to engage traditionally hard to engage young people.
