Burgos Acoge

BURGOS ACOGE is a Spanish small non profit association, was born in 1993 and their mission is to correct the disadvantage situation of migrants, defend their rights and report situations of discrimination and injustice.

Burgos Acoge works to improve the quality lives of immigrant people and has wide experience providing services adapted to the immigrants needs. BA has over 25 years experience working with immigrants, developing projects and providing services adapted to the changing needs of migrants as the following ones: Social and labour counselling, job placement, information and legal advice, education and training, vocational training and training in Spanish language for foreigners, social promotion, psychological support, shelter, housing access, social development, awareness, fight against discrimination, diversity management and social responsibility.

Burgos Acoge has recently integrated new ways of doing in the development of the personalised itineraries for social integration. And is developing an occupational workshop aiming to train social skills to improve employability of immigrants. Currently BA is developing Sentim, an Erasmus+ project in the frame of KA2, first steps in promoting social economy initiatives addressed to immigrant people. And this years has start to build up a new Communication department to spread the activities pof BA in order to reach a high repercussion between the citizens of Burgos, conceived as an instrument to fight against discrimination and raise awareness.

BA has also wide experience in networking and in the development of projects in collaboration with other entities. BA works and develop projects in coordination with private institutions and public administrations and is partner of some local, regional and national networks and partnerships.
BA has enough experience in the management, implementation and coordination of complex project (even at European level) and offers experience working in adult education.

BA has wide experience in education and training: Spanish for foreign people, vocational training courses, occupational training courses, workshops, social and relation skills training courses, social integration courses, special training courses to acquire the Spanish nationality, etc.

In 2012 BA was declared a organization of “public utility”. Currently are part of Burgos Acoge 48 volunteers, 52 contributors, 18 partners and 11 workers. Each year Burgos Acoge provide information, orientation and services as the mentioned above to more than 2000 immigrant people.

Burgos Acoge works and develop projects in coordination with private institutions and public administrations and is partner of some local, regional and national networks and partnerships as the following ones:

At local level we work very closely with those organizations that works with immigrant people, we are part of an specific local network called Coordinadora de Asociaciones Pro Inmigrantes. We are also members of Red Alternativa de Grupos (Alternative Network of Groups), Plataforma Sanidad Pública (network addressed to keep the public public health system), Equalbur (a social local network) and we work very closely with the Burgos City Council, in which we take part in three workings groups Comisión de Integración (social integration), Consejo sectorial Mujer (women) and Consejo sectorial Inmigración (immigration). We develop project and actions with schools, educational centers and Burgos University. And, in this frame we also work with organizations who work in local development, Economic Development Agencies, Chamber of commerce, etc.

At regional level we are one of the organizations that built a regional network that works with immigrant people, the Federación Regional Castilla y León Acoge. We are also members of EAPN Castilla y León, Red Regional to fight against poverty and we work with the Regional Government.

At national level we are part of Red Acoge, a national network for immigrants and EAPN España (social network that operates at national level). We also work with the national government in the development of projects related to social, legal and labour integration of immigrant people.

And at European level we have some good relationships with some organizations all around Europe and and as a result of our membership of Red Acoge, we take part in this European organizations and networks:
• Fundamental Rights Platform
• FEANTSA, Federación de Europea de Asociaciones Nacionales de apoyo a Personas sin Hogar (European Federation to Support Homeless People)
• PICUM, Plataforma para la Cooperación Internacional sobre Inmigrantes (Platform for International Cooperation about Immigrant People).

Our team have wide experience managing European projects (From Horizon, Integra to Equal) and Burgos Acoge is nowadays coordinating an Erasmus+ project (adult education) in the frame of immigration. All the information available at: www.sentim.org
