Youth workers skills and competences – study visit

Study Visit

23-26 April 2019 | Helsinki, Finland

The topic of the study visit is skills and competences of youth workers. This study visit aims to have an overview of different kind of elements and ways of train youth workers in Finland.

Main themes of the Study visit are different core elements of youth workers skills and competences. During the visit participant will get overview how different youth organisations train their own workers (both volunteers based and professionals).  We will dive in to the different core elements like leaderships, dialogue, group dynamics etc. During the visit participants will also be introduced to the formal youth workers education system in Finland. The study visit will consist in a practical part - visit the organisation/project and meet youth workers - and in a activities focused on evaluation and analysis also through participants own reflection.

Methodology: 2 working days of activities in a group with facilitator. We will use field visit of organizations and reflection/debriefing activities with non-formal methods.

Participant Profile: The target group for the study visit in Helsinki are youth workers willing to enhance their competences and who are actively working for youth organisations.

Other characteristics are:

- to have competencies and knowledge on the topic of youth work, and core elements of youth workers skills and competences

- to have experience in the youth work sector

- to be interested in develop own competences and transform the knowledge the own organizations use.  

- be able to communicate and work in English (which will be the working language for the whole training course).

- be able to attend the full training course.

- wish to learn from each other’s during debate and evaluation.

This project is financed by the participating NAs of the the Erasmus+ programme.

The hosting National Agency of this offer will organise the accommodation and covers the costs for accommodation and food.

Travel reimbursement

Your sending National Agency will support your travel costs. After being selected, please contact your NA to learn more about how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
