Youth Work in Lebanon and Cultural Identities: “Diversity of Communities: Richness or?”
Study Visit
22-27 June 2015 | Lebanon
The study visit will enable participants to gain insight on the institutional and political framework of youth work in Lebanon and different approaches and opportunities for youth engagement.
Most of the Youth engagement in Lebanon is related to religious or political affiliations. Lebanon has 18 confessions and most political parties also carry a religious color. Both religious communities and political parties have youth departments or activities targeting young people.
Moreover, there are also NGOs and INGOs working with or for youth without any of the affiliations mentioned above, and trying to build bridges between the different parties and communities. This diversity in the youth field will be emphasized during the visit.
This visit will also tackle the participation of organizations working with or for youth in international programs, especially EuroMed Youth Program and Erasmus + Youth in Action Program, giving chance to possible future partnership building in the framework of both Programs.
Aim and objectives:
1. Gain insight on the institutional and political framework of youth work in Lebanon
2. Provide a space to reflect and discuss about the approaches and opportunities for youth engagement under the different cultural contexts
3. Visit NGOs working with youth on diversity and cultural identity and discuss about educational models and different approaches of youth participation
4. Provide opportunities for potential future partnerships and project development
