Youth Participation Forum - Fostering Youth Participation in Democratic Life

Conference – Symposium - Forum

31 October - 4 November 2022 | Tallinn, Estonia

The Youth Participation Forum will gather the Youth Work Community of Practice for five days in Tallinn, Estonia from October 31 to November 4 to foster quality youth participation in democratic societies.

The Youth Participation Forum will gather 50 participants for 5 days (October 31 - November 4) in Tallinn, Estonia to increase cooperation and strengthen youth participation in Europe and explore the full potential of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps together.

The Forum will work towards fostering quality youth participation in democratic societies by working towards a better understanding of what meaningful youth participation can be as well as its supportive and enabling factors.

The event aims to foster the quality of youth participation in the EU Youth Programmes:

  • by increasing cooperation and strengthening youth participation in Europe and exploring the full potential of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps together as the Youth Work community of practice.
  • by supporting a sharper understanding of the concept of “meaningful youth participation” and of the factors which support such type of participation and increasing the competences among key stakeholders.
  • by raising awareness about resources, tools and activities that enhance and foster youth participation, including the Youth Participation Strategy and Youth Participation Toolkit, as well as the practices and resources presented by the Youth Work community of practice.
  • by presenting and disseminating innovative and quality practices of meaningful youth participation inside and outside of Youth Work and discussing and sharing the most recent research findings.

During the Forum, participants will also have the opportunity to take part in the ceremony of the SALTO Awards 2022 which will happen on November 3. The Forum will also present the Co-Steering Group which is supporting the implementation and monitoring of the Youth Participation Strategy.

The Youth Participation Forum is one of flagship events of the European Year of Youth in the field of Youth Participation and marks also one year of the inception of the Youth Participation Strategy as well as the 35 years of the Erasmus Programme.

The Youth Participation Forum is supported by the National Agencies of Estonia, Austria, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Finland, Cyprus, Iceland, Latvia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Lithuania and SALTO SEE.
