Nowadays youth workers all over Europe are increasingly working with people who have a migration background or refugee experience. Inclusion in society is a key element to help these people feel good in a country. Large opportunities are given by this diversity not only for the people who have recently arrived in a country, but also for people, who have already been living here for a longer time. In this inclusion process, non-formal education can play an important role, as this field provides the perfect space for intercultural learning experiences.
Some challenges are the same for all countries; however, every country has its own complexity due to its political, infrastructural, geographical and financial situation. An exchange with youth workers of other countries is needed to see how they deal with the situation and which long-term projects or activities they offer. New input for the institutions and NGOs, the exchange of best practices and the potential for new cooperation between two or more countries could be an outcome of this seminar and inspire participating youth workers in their daily work.
The training brings together youth workers from Belgium, Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Luxembourg, to achieve the following aims:
Empower youth workers working with young refugees and asylum seekers;
Exchange of best practices from different countries;
Strengthen the international cooperation between youth workers and institutions;
Initiate future international cooperation projects.
The program of this two-day seminar in the Youth Centre Märjendall (www.marienthal.snj.lu) includes a keynote speech and best practice presentations, three workshops from which the participants can choose two, exchange sessions, as well as a networking event.
Participants profile:
Youth workers, educators, trainers and teachers applying to this course are expected:
Be already involved in working with young refugees and asylum seekers in non-formal settings;
Be committed to attend the seminar for its entire duration;
Be able to work in English, as this will be the working language;
Be motivated to share experiences, to learn from the other and be open for new international cooperation.

Being selected for this course, all costs (accommodation, travel, visa, etc.) relevant to the participation in the course will be covered by the NAs involved in this project - except a participation fee which varies from country to country. Please contact your Erasmus+: Youth in Action NA to learn more about the financial details, and how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses. In general the sending Agency will take over the travel costs and the hosting Agency the accommodation costs and meals.
