Training Course

7 September 2022 - 22 March 2023 | Trakai, Lithuania

This training aims to bring trainers’ work to the next level. You will learn how to reach a bigger impact with your training course on youth work competences. It will help you to connect your training to the most recent European developments.
  • Are you working as a trainer for youth workers?
  • Are you interested in bringing your trainer practice to the next level?
  • Would you like your training courses to impact youth workers' competences more?
  • Would you like to be connected to the current European youth workers' competence development developments?

If you have answered all the questions above positively, this training is probably the right thing for you!

This training is based on the experiences of the innovative YOCOMO training courses for youth workers, organised within the framework of the European Training Strategy (ETS).

The YOCOMO courses explored effective ways to work with the ETS Competence Model for youth workers to work internationally. The courses have been piloted from 2018 to 2021, resulting in a more profound understanding of how competence development processes work. They have also tested several innovative approaches and brought fresh perspectives on how to support the professional development of youth workers. Some of the most valuable insights were working with a focus on attitudes, and seeing the youth workers together with and within their system (the context and the community where they belong and work).

The main intention of this YOCOMO Training of Trainers is to spread the findings of the YOCOMO experience by equipping more trainers of youth workers in working with the ETS Competence Model, thus contributing to quality youth work in Europe.

This YOCOMO Training of Trainers, therefore, looks to prepare trainers to implement training activities for youth workers with a competence-based approach, in their context.

The content will include learning about the 'YOCOMO philosophy', the main features and approaches, and support training skills needed to implement competence-based training courses.

Some topics will include:

  • Knowing the ETS competence model for youth workers inside-out
  • What do we mean by ‘Competence development process?
  • Exploring the importance of attitudes and how to address them in  youth worker competence development
  • How to support youth workers to be reflective practitioners?
  • A systemic approach to competence development
  • What are the 3 systemic skills needed for youth workers nowadays?
  • How to design competence-based training programmes for youth workers?
  • What kind of approach (stance) is needed from a trainer who works on competence development
  • How to use the ETS competence model for self-assessment?
  • What does my youth work system needs, and how to apply these in my context?

  • actively working in the field of youth work training,
  • providing training courses for youth work practitioners, working internationally,
  • willing to apply the ETS competence model to their training context,
  • able to communicate in English,
  • coming from Programme countries and Partner countries,
