The training course aims to explore the creative potential of interactive, participatory theatre, site-specific performances within an immersive environment.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop new artistic and methodological skills, using space as a tool to tell stories and generate unique, engaging experiences for the audience. 

Through practical sessions, the course focuses on offering exercises, modules, sessions engaging participants’ physicality, emotions, and creativity, including physical theatre, dance, humor. 

Topics and Themes:

  • Youth participation and engagement
  • Non-formal learning and skill development
  • Citizenship and active participation
  • Social inclusion and respect for diversity
  • Youth worker training and development

Objectives:

  • Increase participant awareness: Improve the quality of youth projects while expanding participation, focusing on the direct learning experience.
  • Youth worker training: Develop youth workers skills who can effectively engage young people through participatory theatre
  • Active youth participation and inclusion: Encourage youth participation in local and international initiatives, promoting critical thinking and social engagement using interactive theatre

Course Objectives

  • Develop artistic and technical skills in physical theatre, dance, and clowning, with a particular focus on using space as a narrative element.
  • Explore the concept of "Interactive Theatre": how to design and create performances that adapt to and interact with the space and surrounding context.
  • Participate in immersive experiences that actively and sensorially involve the audience, using innovative theatrical techniques.
  • Stimulate participants' creativity through the use of unconventional performance tools and experimentation.
  • Strengthen collaboration among participants through group work and intercultural exchange, creating a stimulating and dynamic learning environment.
  • Prepare participants to use immersive and interactive methods in their daily work as artists, educators, or cultural professionals.

Participants- profile: Youth workers, Educators and trainers, Young artists, dancers, actors, and performers, Creators of theatre and dance performances. Participants should have an OID of the organisation and at least three years experience in the arts, particularly in theatre, dance, or performance, and an interest in exploring new creative methods and approaches.

Methodology

The course is hands-on and participatory. Through a series of workshops and training sessions, participants will explore:

  • Interactivity.
  • Physical Theatre: movement techniques, body expression, and improvisation.
  • Humor and Comedy: developing humor, working with rhythm, and improvisation.
  • Movement: exploring dance styles that engage with space and the audience.
  • Site-Specific Theatre: studying how context and space can influence and enrich storytelling and performance.

The course will take place in an collaborative environment, where participants will be involved in practical activities, discussions, and mutual feedback.

Introduction to the course and objectives

Welcome dinner and socializing

April 7-11, 2025 – Workshops and Practical Sessions

Morning: Physical Theatre, Movement, and Humor workshops

Afternoon: Sessions on Site-Specific and Interactive Theatre

Evening: Discussions and reflections on the creative process, feedback, and analysis of daily experiments

April 12, 2025 – Conclusion, Final feedback and course closure

Participation Requirements: Participants are encouraged to bring their own artistic materials (instruments, costumes, props) that they may use during the practical activities. A good level of English is required, as the course will be conducted in English. An OID.

Costs and Funding: The course is fully funded through the Erasmus+ program, thanks to the accreditation of INCA Catalunya. The costs of participation, accommodation, meals, and materials are covered for all selected participants. However, places are limited, and selection will be based on motivation and experience. There is a small fee of 50 €.

Note: This training is a unique opportunity to explore the world of immersive theatre, site-specific performance, and movement in a creative and stimulating environment. It will not only be an intense learning experience but also an opportunity to connect with artists and professionals from around the world, working together to create new forms of artistic expression.
