Workshop “Inclusive volunteering”

Voluntary work is important both for our society and for individuals. Participation in such can enrich a life through social integration and the development of personal skills, but people with disabilities and mental health issues have often been excluded from this.

The Inclusive volunteering workshop is the final event of the international IMProVE 2.0 project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme.

The IMProVE project stands for inclusion and equality and is intended to enable people with disabilities or mental health issues to volunteer.

During the workshop the IMProVE 2.0 method will be presented. To promote inclusive volunteering, we have worked on various levels:

• Creation of support structures for people with disabilities or mental health issues (counselling, training, identification of suitable volunteer opportunities, matching services)
• Creation of the role of  an Inclusion buddy
• Information events, training, and counseling services for parents and caregivers
• Information events, training, and counseling services NGOs
• Awareness raising activities: Another goal is to change the public perception of people with disabilities. Everyone, regardless of age, culture, gender, sexual orientation, origin, religion or disability can make a contribution to our society and play an active role.

The participants to this workshop will have a taste of the training materials and supportive structures developed during the project, in an interactive way. This means: Interested participants need to be prepared to switch on their videos, work in breakout sessions, ask and answer questions. Be interactive!
