Water Matters: Building Skills for Youth Workers in Environmental Conservation Erasmus+ Training Course

Training Course

1-9 June 2026 | Stuttgart, Germany

Water Matters is an Erasmus+ Training Course designed to strengthen the capacity of youth workers to address environmental challenges, with a special focus on water sustainability, pollution prevention, and community engagement.

Water Matters is a 7-day Erasmus+ Training Course taking place in Stuttgart, Germany, designed specifically for youth workers, youth leaders, and NGO representatives active in the field of non-formal education and youth work.

The training is coordinated by Jugendvision e.V. and co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme.

It brings together 30 participants from 6 countries to strengthen their capacity to address environmental challenges, with a particular focus on water sustainability, pollution prevention, and community engagement.

Throughout the training, participants will engage in a dynamic programme combining non-formal learning methods such as interactive workshops, group work, simulations, field visits, and peer-learning activities. The course is designed to be highly practical, enabling participants to gain hands-on experience and concrete tools that can be directly applied in their daily youth work practice.

Key thematic areas include:

  • Sustainable water management and water conservation
  • Environmental education methodologies in non-formal learning
  • Youth engagement in sustainability and climate action
  • Designing and implementing community-based environmental projects

Participants will also take part in intercultural exchange activities, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration across different contexts.

A strong focus of the training is on empowering youth workers to transfer their learning into action. During the course, participants will develop their own “Water Matters” community-based project ideas, which they are encouraged to implement locally after the training.

The programme also supports the development of transversal competences such as leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and facilitation skills, all essential for effective youth work.

By the end of the training, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge and awareness of water sustainability issues
  • Be equipped with practical tools and methods for environmental education
  • Be prepared to design and implement local initiatives with young people
  • Strengthen their role as multipliers within their organisations and communities

This training is particularly suitable for youth workers who are actively working with young people (aged 16–30), especially within non-formal education settings, and who are motivated to integrate environmental topics into their work.
