TRANSFER ACTIVITIES ON THE AUDITING AND SELF-ASSESSMENT MODEL FOR YOUTH WORK

Training Course

23-26 April 2018 | Helsinki/Lappeenranta, Finland

Transferring the auditing and self-assessment model for youth work activity will share good practices, raise the quality of youth work in municipalities and develop the evaluation model further at European level.
The main idea of auditing and self-assessment model for youth work is to make visible the content of youth work and its values. The aim is not to inspect or merely audit but to develop everyday youth work. This helps to identify the strengths and areas of development of the activities. In audit, peer auditors – usually two youth workers from another municipality –observe the activities for a certain period, guided by the criteria. The peer assessment provides not only evaluative information but also a possibility for mutual understanding and learning. Phase 1 (April 2018) - Total duration: 3 working days o One day seminar to introduce the model o Testing the model at Youth Services in Finnish Municipalities together with Finnish youth workers o Evaluation and planning for the phase 2 and phase 3 - Participants: o 6 youth workers from Croatia in 3 pairs (=2 always from same organisation) o 6 youth workers from Romania in 3 pairs (=2 always from same organisation) (n.b. criteria: youth work knowledge and interest, language of secondary importance) o 7 Finnish youth workers Phase 2 (Spring-summer 2018) - HR & RO youth workers will test the model in their countries Phase 3 (November 2018) - FI youth workers will do peer evaluation in municipalities in Croatia and in Romania. - Estimation: 3 working days The self and peer assessment model is developed by the Youth Services of capital cities Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. The model is acquired from Kent, Great Britain, where youth work is inspected by Ofsted, The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills.
