Training of Youth Workers - Into the Future

Training Course

12-18 December 2023 | Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Germany

This training course is going to provide the space to explore best-case practices, improve youth work competences and create long-lasting partnerships based on the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers.

This training course will provide the space to explore challenges, improve youth work competences and create long-lasting partnerships based on the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers.

There are a lot of young youth workers, who have good ideas and motivation, but they are lacking knowledge, skills, and experience to work in the youth work. Since in many European and neighbouring countries, including some participating on this project, there's no official university for youth workers, people who decide to spend their life doing youth work, often don't have chance to get this necessary skills that would help them in their work with the youth.

These are the objectives of the training course:
(1) inform and train youth workers in the eight competences from the "Competence Model for Youth Workers”, (2) support youth organizations in increasing the capacity by identifying and addressing challenges (3) provide a space for sharing knowledge and exchanging experiences and good practices, (4) increasing the knowledge and skills of youth workers by learning from each other (5) establish long-term partnership among partners on this project

We are focusing on the following youth workers competences:
(1) Communicating Meaningfully, (2) Cooperating successfully in teams, (3) Designing educational programmes, (4) Facilitating group learning processes, and (5) Displaying intercultural competence.

Participants are staying in Osterholz-Scharmbeck https://kulturgruppenhaus.de/ and will share rooms with one to three other people. The place is rather remotely and shops are not easily accessible.

The training course will be hosted by NaturKultur e.V. and the group learning processes will be facilitated by three experienced trainers who have multiple years of experience in the field of youth. Additionally, we make sure that the trainers have well-distinguished professional backgrounds so that different perspectives will be provided.

Organiser:

NaturKultur e.V. (Youth NGO)

NaturKultur e.V. is a youth association in Germany with over eleven years of experience in the field. Our biggest impact is done through activities that channel our values and beliefs through our multicultural and diverse team, which is transmitting that passion for creating and providing great learning experiences for young people in Germany and beyond. This includes local initiatives, local and international youth exchanges and training courses. As well as projects to share best practices, foster innovative approaches and build bridges between international organisations. Our values and beliefs shape how we approach our work, how we guide our decisions and behaviours in our everyday world. They are deeply embedded in all of us, and we gladly share them through young people and partners we work with on a daily basis. We are providing a platform for young people to make a positive impact and change the world while they are developing themselves. Special emphasis is put on including young people with fewer opportunities, such as young people with disabilities, those who live in rural areas, belong to different ethnic minorities, are refugees, or have learning difficulties. Furthermore, we are hosting four ESC volunteers and coordinating ten other ESC volunteers in Bremen, Germany. More information at: https://www.naturkultur.eu/en/about-us/
