Training Course
1-8 September 2026 | Tokat, Türkiye
ToT-AI is an eight-day residential Training of Trainers designed for youth workers and youth leaders who want to take the next step in their professional pathway and become trainers capable of designing, delivering and evaluating Artificial Intelligence–focused learning activities within the field of non-formal education and youth work.
The ToT-AI responds to a growing need across the youth sector: while young people increasingly encounter AI in their education, work and daily lives, the youth work field still lacks a sufficient pool of trainers who can address AI literacy competently, critically and ethically through non-formal methods. The training aims to close this gap by preparing a new generation of AI-literate trainers rooted in the values and methodology of non-formal learning since it is built on the ETS Competence Model for Trainers.
Learning in this training is experiential, reflective and personalised. Across the programme, participants will deepen their understanding of the essentials of non-formal education and the trainer's role as facilitator; assess their own competences against the ETS model; build solid AI literacy foundations covering types of AI, generative AI and prompting basics; and engage critically with the uses of AI as they apply to work with young people.
The focus shifts from understanding to practice: participants design AI learning sessions using non-formal methods, facilitate micro-training rounds with structured peer feedback, expand their toolbox of AI-supported facilitation tools, and co-create a shared ToT-AI trainer resource kit. The participants will leave this training with concrete future steps, including mentoring arrangements and the formation of teams for participants' own training practice, so that the learning translates into real training activity in the youth field after the course.
Youthpass is an integral part of the process, used both as a reflection tool and as recognition of the competences developed.
Profile of Trainees:
ToT-AI is explicitly targeted at applicants active in the field of non-formal learning and youth work: youth workers, youth leaders, facilitators and educators aged 18+ who have international youth-work experience, who work with young people in non-formal settings, and who are motivated to develop as trainers.
Applicants should be able to work in English, willing to direct their own learning, and ready to contribute actively to the group's learning journey.
Prior technical expertise in AI is not required - what matters is experience in youth work and non-formal education, and the commitment to bring AI literacy to young people through it. The training is not intended as a formal seminar for educating and teaching staff seeking classroom AI instruction, nor for participants without a youth work background.
