Training for ESC mentors

Training Course

17-22 November 2025 | Madaba (tbc), Jordan

Mentoring is one of the key elements to ensure meaningful European Solidarity Corps volunteering projects. Join our training to explore its significance, mentors responsibilities, intercultural dynamics, and promote volunteers’ learning outcomes

This training course is meant for people involved in an organisation holding a Quality Label for volunteering in solidarity activities in European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and in particular for:

  • mentors with little experience
  • future mentors without any previous experience in mentoring in ESC
  • experienced mentors in ESC wishing to question their position & exchange practices

This activity is based on a Competence Framework for Mentors developed by SALTO European Solidarity Corps & several National Agencies as part of ‘Mentoring under Construction’ project. This project aims at creating a community of mentors and sharing good practices and tools.

The training course will consist of 4 working days: arrival on the 17th of November, 18th, 19th, 20th & 21st will be working days and the departure day is set on the 22nd of November after breakfast.

There will be an online onboarding session on the 30th September 2025 from 2 PM CEST to 4 PM CEST.

Attendance to the whole event, on-boarding session included, is expected.

The objectives of the training course are the following:

  •  Explore the role of ESC mentors
  • Strengthen mentors’ capacity to provide guidance in supporting volunteer’s local & cultural integration, well-being, and in managing conflicts
  • Support mentors in their journey to ensure inclusion & raise awareness of the European Solidarity Corps core values
  • Support mentors in facilitating & encouraging the valorisation & recognition of learning of volunteers
  • Share practices & tools

This training course will focus on the support to volunteers, the administrative aspects connected to the project management will not be dealt with.

In order to benefit as much as possible from this training course, we ask you not to plan meetings or work during the week. After the selection of participants, the program and timetable will be sent to you, allowing you to best organise your time.

You are a mentor if you are a member of an organisation holding a Quality label in the framework of the European Solidarity Corps programme and:

  • You are the preferred contact/referent for volunteers hosted in your organisation;
  • You are involved in monitoring and supporting volunteers on different levels (intercultural preparation, daily life, administrative support, (re)integration, personal project, etc.);
  • You are in charge of valorisation & evaluation of learning outcomes of volunteers.

If you fit this profile and have no or little experience as an ESC mentor or are an ESC mentor with experience willing to share and exchange about mentorship practices, this training course is meant for you!
