The training course will give opportunities for participants to experiment with non formal education methodologies and approaches for effective communication, proactivity and support to youth in rural areas.

RU-MATES training course intends to respond to the needs of the young population and youth workers living in rural areas as currently in EU countries access to youth work services for youth in rural areas, support of local networks to develop their businesses, awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship for sustainable local development and access to information to start their own entrepreneurial path, are very limited.

The RU-MATES training course aims to increase the professional and personal skills of youth workers and project leaders in the field of social planning and reintegration of young people in rural areas.

The main objective is to provide them with methods and tools that enable the creation of social projects in rural areas in order to re-involve unemployed and in need for upskilling youth and promote effective participation and social inclusion of young people living in of educational disadvantage (NEETS and ESLs).

THE MAIN TOPICS ADDRESSED BY THE PROJECT ARE;

- Non formal education

- Self-promotion tools in the labor market, social planning, awareness campaign

- Youth (Participation, Youth Work, Youth Policy)

THE MAIN AIMS OF THE PROJECT ARE: 

  • to strengthen the role of Youth Workers in the rural communities;
  • to provide Youth Workers with new skills in Reciprocal Maieutic Approach and Emotion Management as tools to understand the needs of young people living in educational disadvantage;
  • to empower Youth Workers with new skills in social planning for the inclusion of young people living in rural areas from an educational and occupational point of view, and to give them communication and digital skills to interact with geographically disadvantaged young people, in order to encourage their active participation in the territory
  • to contribute to the capacity of youth organisations to promote non-formal education in the field of youth work as well as to strengthen cooperation with other youth organisations in EU countries

The training will have place in Marina di Cinisi (Palermo, Italy) from June 24th, 2023 (arrival day) till July 2nd, 2023 (departure day): 

24th June – Day of arrival, welcome to participants and group building activities

25 June – Introduction to the training course and main topics covered, overview of the project topics in Europe through non-formal education activities

June 26 – Good practices in social planning, the importance of knowing one's strengths and weaknesses, the Reciprocal Maieutic Approach for identifying needs in rural areas

27th June – Management of emotions, definition and achievement of objectives, motivation of Youth Workers

28th June – Visit to a local reality

June 29 - Non-formal activities on the theme of sustainability and self-entrepreneurship, creation of an awareness campaign through workshops and use of digital tools

June 30 - Creation of an awareness campaign through workshops and use of digital tools and local event to show the results

1 July – Erasmus+, European funding opportunities, follow-up, networking, Youthpass, European Youth Leaders Portfolio and experience evaluation

2nd July – Day of Departure

We are looking for youth workers, project leaders, or youth facilitators aged 18+ and working in the proposed theme, with a particular focus on those who live or work in rural areas. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to participate in the training together with other participants from Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Iceland, North Macedonia, Slovakia and Portugal.

Given the limited number of participants, please send your CV and motivational letter by the 5th of June 2023. You will receive an email with the selection results after the 10th of June 2023.

CENTRO PER LO SVILUPPO CREATIVO “DANILO DOLCI” is a non-profit organization located in Palermo, born in 1958 from the experience and work of Danilo Dolci, a social activist, sociologist, pacifist and educator. It is a non-profit organization that involves young people and adults and has successfully operated for more than ten years mainly in the educational sector in collaboration with schools, universities, institutions, associations and social groups both at local and at international level. CSC works at local and European levels, with a last-long experience in European, National and International funds (Erasmus+, AMIF, Creative Europe, EYE, ISF CSEP, ENPI CBC MED and EUROPEAID) focusing on two main pillars: the Local Development, starting from the needs of the community and paying special attention to the most disadvantaged target groups & the Creativity, promoting innovation in education and using new methodologies to empower youth, adults and professionals. Particularly, the work of the Centre is based on the Reciprocal Maieutic Approach, a methodology of research and self-analysis useful to develop creativity, communication, cooperation and active participation.
Our organization has as its specific focus the inclusion of all people and groups into society in a view of non-discrimination and social integration of disadvantaged and excluded target groups (e.g., people with a migrant background, disabled people, people living in a socio-cultural and economic disadvantage, etc.). For this reason, CSC been working on several projects (under different European programmes), gaining relevant experience in developing and implementing different kind of activities for promoting social inclusion (e.g., training and workshop activities, language courses, sport, recreational activities, etc.).
