How can youth work contribute to a greener and more sustainable future?
Are you a youth worker, educator, or facilitator passionate about integrating environmental sustainability into your work? Do you want to explore eco-friendly practices, digital sustainability tools, and strategies to reduce the environmental footprint of youth work projects? If so, this six-day experiential training course is designed for you!

About the Training

This training course will equip youth workers with practical knowledge, tools, and strategies to integrate sustainability into non-formal education and Erasmus+ projects. Through interactive, hands-on, and immersive learning experiences, participants will:

  • Explore sustainability in youth work and its impact
  • Analyze and reduce carbon footprints in youth programs
  • Learn about zero-waste and digital sustainability solutions
  • Develop and implement green initiatives in youth work
  • Engage in study visits and learn from real-life eco-projects

Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will:
✅ Understand the role of sustainability in youth work and European projects
✅ Gain eco-friendly tools and methodologies for non-formal education
✅ Develop strategies for sustainable event planning and youth engagement
✅ Learn how to address eco-anxiety and empower young people for climate action
✅ Create action plans for implementing sustainable practices in youth work

Methodology

This training is based on non-formal education principles, with an emphasis on experiential learning, interactive activities, and reflection. Participants will engage in:
 Eco-Mapping Walks – Exploring environmental issues in practice
♻️ Sustainability Bingo & Circular Economy Role-Play – Hands-on games for learning green practices
 Forum & Debate Sessions – Exploring green policies and youth work strategies
 Digital Detox Challenge – Reducing digital impact in youth work
 Study Visits – Engaging with local eco-initiatives

Who Can Participate?

This training is designed for:
 Youth workers, educators, and trainers
 Project managers and facilitators leading Erasmus+ projects
 Leaders and mentors supporting sustainable initiatives
Anyone passionate about green practices in youth work

Participants should be:
✅ At least 18 years old
✅ Motivated to integrate sustainability into their work
✅ Open to intercultural learning and collaboration
✅ Able to communicate in English

Day 1: Introduction to Green Youth Work

Day 2: Sustainable Practices & Tools for Green Youth Work

  • Green non-formal education methods – Practical application
  • Eco-Mapping Walk – Identifying local sustainability issues
  • Sustainable Event Planning – Trash Sort Race & practical solutions
  • Digital Detox Challenge – Reducing digital carbon footprint

Day 3: Overcoming Barriers & Implementing Green Strategies

  • Eco-Anxiety & Mental Health – Fishbowl Debate
  • Challenges in Sustainable Youth Work
  • Eco-Entrepreneurship & Green Innovation
  • Creating Long-Term Impact – Sustainability Toolkit Exchange

Day 4: Exploring Romanian Culture & Green Initiatives

  • Visits to eco-friendly projects and sustainable social enterprises
  • Facilitated debate on European sustainability perspectives

Day 5: Youth Work & Green Project Development

  • Co-Creation of an Inclusion Handbook
  • Developing strategies for sustainable Erasmus+ projects
  • Practical applications for real-world implementation

Day 6: YouthPass Reflection & Future Collaboration

  • Mapping learning outcomes & developing competencies
  • Final action planning & project follow-up strategies
  • Emotional reflection & evaluation

Departure Day – 23 June 2025 Location & Accommodation

Breaza, Romania – A scenic, nature-filled setting ideal for reflection, learning, and sustainability-focused experiences. Participants will stay in shared rooms, fostering a collaborative environment.

Important to Know

⚠️ This training involves outdoor activities, so participants should bring comfortable clothing.
It focuses on practical sustainability strategies, but continuous application in real projects is encouraged. Participants are encouraged to choose eco-friendly travel options where possible.

Participation fee

No participation fee required.

Accommodation and food

Costs will be covered by the hosting organization.

Travel reimbursement

Travel costs will be reimbursed in accordance with the Erasmus+ program rules, based on the actual costs incurred and within the maximum amounts allocated per participant per country.

Below is the breakdown of the maximum travel cost reimbursement per participant, per country, based on Erasmus+ funding guidelines:

Romania (Hosting Country): 0 No reimbursement

Neighboring Countries (e.g., Bulgaria, Hungary): Up to €180

Other European Countries (e.g., Germany, France, Italy, Spain): Up to €275

Distant European Countries (e.g., Portugal, Ireland, Finland, Sweden): Up to €360

The call is aimed only to countries mentioned in the Travel reimbursement section.

Reimbursement will be provided only upon submission of original travel documents (boarding passes, invoices, tickets) and adherence to eco-friendly travel principles where applicable. Participants are encouraged to choose sustainable travel options, such as trains or buses, where possible.
