THEATER BY NATURE Training Course

Training Course

3-9 February 2020 | Tenerife, Spain

Theather by Nature is an international training seminar for the development of skills of workers and youth leaders in the prevention and resolution of conflicts, through the use of theater methodology and non-violent communication.

Theater by Nature training course will take place in Tenerife, from 3 to 9 February 2020 and will bring together 24 leaders and youth workers from 11 different countries.

This project anticipates developing competences of youth workers to communicate in a nonviolent way – acknowledging own and others’ needs, recognising and expressing emotions, building peaceful relations with young people, and co-workers. We found an existing need among trainers, facilitators, youth leaders, and project coordinators to approach situations of conflict and misunderstanding in their work environment with a fresh perspective. Especially working with multinational and cross-cultural groups, youth at risk, migrants and refugees, where backgrounds, contexts and understandings might be so different, and may lead to frustrations in the communication process.

The THEATRE BY NATURE TC aims to have impact in two main areas:

develop emphatic attitude, by building a group ready to support each other, where participants will share their challenges, contact with their emotions and needs, go through experienced frustrations, and approach them as a resource for learning improve/ acquire knowledge and skills in Nonviolent Communication as a tool to deal with similar situations in the future including the connection with nature as a mirror of the different stages in communication.

Isla CreActiva is a Sociocultural Association that promotes the social participation of young people in the local and international level as part of an active citizenship. Our goal is to encourage tolerance between people of different cultures and knowledge and respect for the environment in which we live.
The association is mainly composed of former European volunteers, and acts as a driver and coordinator of the ideas and initiatives of our partners, and other youth groups. In this In this sense, we facilitate the participation of young people and local organizations in projects at the international level as youth exchanges, seminars, the European Volunteer Service, and other initiatives.
At the local level we also organize environmental education workshops for young people and adults, such as workshops of recycling or cleaning of natural spaces, hiking, reforestation, as well as workshops of intercultural awareness as international cooking workshops, or European cinema cycles. In addition we also participate in other events in our community such as courses, conferences and educational fairs.
