26 May 2026 | Online, Bulgaria
This opening webinar sets the conceptual foundation for the course, introducing participants to the Polarities of Democracy framework—a practical approach to navigating polarities in democratic systems (e.g. freedom and authority, diversity and inclusion, justice and due process).
In this webinar , participants will:
- Understand the core principles of the Polarities of Democracy theory and its relevance in contemporary democratic contexts-
- Recognise the 10 basic values that form the polarities of democracy theory and differentiate them from problems that can be solved
- Explore the risks of over-focusing on one pole, leading to imbalance and democratic fragility
- Gain introductory skills in mapping polarities, using real-life examples from civic and youth participation contexts
- Reflect on their own practice as youth workers/educators and identify where polarity thinking can enhance their work
- Engage directly with the founder of the framework, deepening their understanding through dialogue and Q&A
The first online event will be on May 26 2026 from 19 to 20:30 CET.
