Team Up! Emotional literacy and conflict transformation at the interpersonal level

Training Course

19-26 February 2024 | San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain

This project is for 20 youth workers, youth leaders and activists interested in improving their interpersonal skills

Summary of the project

What if we explore ways of communicating with others that unlock defences? Our emotions are key to understanding what we need and help us determine our positions and strategies to get them fulfilled. Understanding is a beautiful and necessary step before expressing yourself. All these ideas in the framework of building interpersonal relations from the non-violence we will explore in the beautiful town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid.

Aim: to equip 20 youth workers, youth leaders and activists with competencies in conflict transformation at the interpersonal level and emotional literacy skills to establish cooperation relationships in the professional and personal environments.

Objectives:

  • To gain a better understanding of the concepts of Peace, diverse forms of violence, conflict, non-violence and community with the approach to serve as a conceptual framework for interpersonal relations.
  • To understand the importance of nonviolent conflict transformation, the variety of strategies to approach conflict and its links to the context of human rights.
  • To empower participants to participate and build healthy and peaceful relations at their professional and local level
  • To develop skills in emotional literacy, non-violent communication and active listening
  • To map and analyse the realities of the participants on how interpersonal conflict and violence affect their wellbeing
  • To facilitate the process of designing at least 6 follow-up activities aiming to transform local conflicts by using the conclusions and techniques acquired during the training
  • To create a recommendations document including the framework of competencies for youth leaders to build sustainable relations based on non-violence
