Taking Action Against Sexist Hate Speech

Training Course

13-21 August 2022 | Bojnice, Slovak Republic

Training course for youth workers, leaders and educators who would like to create safe space for everyone in their youth work activities, support young people who experience hate speech and participate at prevention campaigns and strategies.

Training course applies approaches and methods of human rights education and eduction for democratic citizenship. Programme is build on 4 pillars:

1. Developing base: team building, creating safe space, sharing experience, learning needs and expectations;

2. Discovering the topic: discovering forms and targets of hate speech, prevention of hate speech in the contex of human rights and human rights education; 

3. Hate speech and gender equality: sexism,  hate speech targeting people because of their sex, gender or sexual orientation, forms of sexist hate speech, how to overcome gender or LGBT+ biases in youth work;

4. Practice: introduction to legislative framework, sharing tools to build resilience, develop advocacy activities and raising awareness.

In the middle of the programme, participants will have an opportunity to enjoy their free time in the town Bojnice favourite for its fairytale castle, Zoo or a swiming pool.

Civic association Education for Equality and Ecology - Edeqec was founded in 2019 as a platform for educational activities and research in the field of human rights, social inequality and environmental justice.

In the organisation, we:
- raise awareness on human rights and related topics through non-formal and experiential learning programmes,
- develop competences of professionals working with the youth,
- empower young people to demand their rights as well as rights of persons that our society disadvantages the most,
- design and implement research in the selected areas.

Accommodation and food

Accommodation and food will be provided by organizers. Participants will be accommodated in a youth centre over the town, in rooms for 2 - 4 people. 

Travel reimbursement

Travel costs will be reimbursed based on Erasmus+ distance calculator:

Slovakia: if over 100km - 180 EUR

Bulgaria: 500-1999 km - 275 EUR

Italy: 500-1999 km - 275 EUR

Greece: 500-1999 km - 275 EUR

Poland: 100-499 km - 180 EUR

Ireland: 500-1999 km - 275 EUR

Lithuania: 500-1999 km - 275 EUR
