Supporting Youth in Crisis – Preventing Suicide and Saving Lives

How can we truly support young people in crisis – and be ready when it matters most?
This free 2-hours international webinar invites youth workers, educators, and helping professionals to strengthen their understanding and confidence in supporting young people in crisis and preventing suicide.
Together, we will explore:
- The wider context of suicide and its links to mental health, trauma, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
- Barriers to help-seeking and the unique role of youth work and community professionals as trusted sources of support
- Mental health first aid: challenging misconceptions, bias, stigma, and cultural beliefs; understanding what to say and what not to say; ensuring immediate safety, appropriate follow-up, and longer-term support
- The emotional and relational impact of supporting young people in distress, focusing on maintaining connection, boundaries, and well-being within teams and organisations
- Support structures for practitioners: identifying existing supports, exploring what’s needed, and building a culture of self-care, reflection, and compassion

- Open to all youth professionals and organisations especially to those working with young people with fewer opportunities
