STAGE — Staging Tools for Awareness, Growth & Expression

Training Course

28 February - 25 April 2027 | Casa del Trigo, La Almudema, Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia), Spain

Discover body-based and theatre methods for youth mental health. A two-module training for youth workers, with local practice and online supervision between modules. Attendance at both modules is required: 28 Feb–7 Mar and 18–25 Apr 2027.

STAGE is an experiential training course for youth workers, youth leaders and trainers who want to bring body-based and theatre methods into their non-formal work with young people, with a focus on mental health, awareness and expression.

You will explore four approaches: Gestalt Theatre, Spontaneous Movement, Río Abierto / Expressive Movement and Bioenergetics. You experience the methods first, then practise facilitating them with others. Movement, breathing, improvisation, reflection and group work are central to the learning process. Participation in each exercise is voluntary: you may step out at any moment without having to explain yourself.

TWO MODULES — ONE LEARNING JOURNEY
Attendance at both residential modules is required.
• Module I: 28 February–7 March 2027, including arrival and departure; six working days, 1–6 March. Experience and explore the methods.
• Between modules: facilitate at least two sessions with your own youth group, keep a short facilitation journal, and join three online supervision sessions of two hours each. Online dates will be agreed with the group.
• Module II: 18–25 April 2027, including arrival and departure; six working days, 19–24 April. Develop your facilitation practice and integrate your learning.
The calendar date range covers the whole programme; participants do not stay at the venue between modules.

WHO SHOULD APPLY
25 places are available for participants from EU countries and Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
The course is aimed at people actively working with young people in non-formal education who can put the methods into practice with their own youth group between modules and commit to the full programme. The working language is English. No previous experience of the body-based or theatre methods is required. STAGE develops youth work competences and does not qualify participants as therapists.

VENUE AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Both modules take place at Albergue Casa del Trigo, La Almudema, near Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia, Spain. Participants live, eat and work together at the rural training centre, in shared rooms of three with en-suite bathrooms.

TRAINERS
Diego Marín Romera, director of Escuela de Teatro Gestalt de Murcia, is a Gestalt and Gestalt Theatre therapist and a trainer in non-formal learning, specialising in Gestalt Theatre applied to conflict and personal development since 2009.

LEARNING RECOGNITION
Participants will work on a Youthpass certificate identifying the competences they develop, with reflection integrated into Module II.

Costs

Participation fee

Participation fee: €150 per module (€300 for the complete two-module programme).

The Erasmus+ funding allocated to STAGE supports five full training days per module. The team has decided to extend each module to six full training days, giving participants more time to practise, integrate the methods and receive feedback.

The programme also includes supervision between modules, supporting participants as they apply the methods in their own work and prepare practical questions and experiences to explore during the second module.

The participation contributions help cover the team’s work in delivering the two additional training days—one per module—and the supervision between modules, beyond the provision covered by the allocated grant. These contributions support fair remuneration for the additional work and are collected on a non-profit basis.

Participants with fewer opportunities are exempt from the contribution. If the fee could prevent you from participating, please contact us confidentially so that we can address the barrier.

Accommodation and food

Accommodation and all meals are covered by the project for both residential modules at Albergue Casa del Trigo. Participants stay in shared rooms of three with an en-suite bathroom. Training materials and working spaces are also provided. Please communicate dietary needs and allergies in advance. Bring your own towels.

Travel reimbursement

Travel is reimbursed separately for each module against original tickets, boarding passes and proof of payment, up to the applicable ceiling. Maximum amounts per module (standard / green travel):
100–499 km: EUR 161 / EUR 235.
500–1,999 km: EUR 259 / EUR 367.
2,000–2,999 km: EUR 345 / EUR 485.
3,000–3,999 km: EUR 530 / EUR 735.

These project amounts already reflect a EUR 50 deduction for the organised private bus: return transfers between Murcia and the venue, plus transport to Águilas on the free day. Only actual eligible expenses are reimbursed.

Before booking, contact the organisers to confirm the applicable budget for your place of departure, including any distance band not listed above. Green travel must be agreed in advance. Do not buy tickets until you receive written confirmation and booking instructions. Travel for both modules must be booked and confirmed by 20 January 2027.

Participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate from the organiser, for recognition of their competence development during the activity. Read more about Youthpass:
