Study Visit

2-18 September 2022 | Przemyśl, Poland

Series of weekly networking job-shadowings in a space for circus pedagogical activities for refugee children with study visit elements to organisations involved in reception and support of Ukrainian refugees in Przemyśl, Poland.

AIM

The activity aims to develop a network of stakeholders in the European Solidarity Corps interested in circus adventure pedagogy as well as a response measures in Przemyśl (Poland) to the refugee crisis due to Russian invasion of Ukraine.

We want to explore how youth work can support humanitarian solidarity work directly at the place where the Ukrainian refugees are arriving at the border to EU and learn from the existing examples how youth work can support solidarity in a crisis situation.

 

OBJECTIVES

  • To learn how circus pedagogy can be used in the youth work field, especially for international volunteering and solidarity projects;
  • To learn how the reception of Ukrainian refuges is set-up in Przemyśl, Poland;
  • To explore a link between solidarity and youth work through direct involvement;
  • To learn and share professional skills between participants as well as with vounteers of the refugee centre;
  • To network and build partnerships for future European Solidarity Corps projects;

 

TARGET GROUP

Youth workers, youth trainers, projects coordinators, volunteers' mentors (potentially also officers of ESC National Agencies). Participants should have basic understanding of the international volunteering and/or solidarity projects within the European Solidarity Corps. Each weekly job-shadowing will gather 5-6 participants from Programme and Eastern partner countries.

 

DRAFT PROGRAMME

The activity will comprises a series of 8 days group job-shadowings following similar programme:

  • Friday: arrival by the evening to Przemyśl, evening getting-to-know each other;
  • Saturday: on-boarding to the circus, its programme, approach and target groups; reception system of Ukrainian refugees arriving to Poland; networking for future cooperation in frames of European Solidarity Corps (in case participants from the previous job-shadowings are involved, the on-boarding and networking will be enhanced);
  • Sunday: practical involvement into the circus pedagogy;
  • Monday-Friday: engagement into the circus activities with refugee children in Przemyśl (at least 25 hours) blended with study visits to the organisations and institutions involved in reception of Ukrainian refugees in Poland (at least 5 places);
  • Saturday: networking for future cooperation and final evaluation;
  • Sunday: departures;

Costs

Participation fee

This project is financed by the participating National Agencies (NAs) of the European Solidarity Corps Programme. If there is a participation fee at all, it varies from country to country. If you like, you can contact your National Agency or regional SALTO Resource Centre to learn more about the participation fee for participants from your country.

Accommodation and food

The hosting PL NA and SALTO EECA will organise the accommodation and food and cover its costs for each job-shadowing from Friday dinner till next week Sunday breakfast.
