Sport for Social Development

Seminar

27 November - 3 December 2017 | Bansko, Bulgaria

Seminar "Sport for social development" aims develop a network among 34 sport youth workers from 8 countries and help them explore the potential of sport as a tool for social development.
Education and training, such as the chapters of Europe 2020 Strategy and also EU Strategy on Youth 2010-2018 clearly have stated that there is a need of an important impact on how learners develop key competences, use them and on how open they are to change and bring innovation to their lives. Through this discovery of ones' abilities, youth workers will be empowered to bring out their potential, learn how to use these new skills and act as multipliers with their young people in order to bring out and find the opportunity to explore their internal capabilities in being creative to develop new tools, working in a team and developing basic and transversal skills. The main idea behind this project is to make all the participants aware that everyone is capable of being successful and to work in a group through sports. "Sport for social development" aims to involve 34 youth workers from 8 countries in two interrelated activities (seminar and training course) in order to develop their skills on how to use sport as a tool for social development. Youth workers will be involved and empowered to bring out the potential of the youngsters they work with and learn how to use sport and act as multipliers. The project objectives are: - To teach the participants how to develop soft skills in youth through sport in order to ensure sustainability of the population. - To explore the meaning, relevance and potential of sport as a tool for social development of youth. - To explore and compare how NGOs within Europe work/approach/develop soft skills through sport in young people in order to provide the social development of their areas/countries. - To develop new Education through Sport tools, to be added to Online Tools Book The seminar will be followed by a training course in April 2018 in Budapest, but additional application form and requirements will be announced in January 2018.
