Training Course
2-5 December 2019 | Malta
Youth Workers occupy an ever more important and active role in young peoples' lives, often finding themselves in situations where young people require help on mental health issues.
This training course aims to provide youth workers with certain knowledge and good practices, with regards to dealing with young people with mental health issues. Youth workers need to be able to show young people that mental ill health is a part of life in just the same way as physical ill health, that it is OK to talk about and it is OK to ask for help.
This training aims to assist participants in understanding and identifying the difference between typical young person’s behaviour and mental illness, and how to address mental health problems appropriately in young people, including information on community resources and intervention strategies.
What is the aim of the Training Course?
The goal of this training is to provide work contextualized knowledge/information about youth mental health/mental disorders and relevant community youth mental health services resources to those involved in youth work. This training aims to increase the competences of applicants about young people’s development and the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.
