Sound Atlas of Resilience

Training Course

2-10 June 2026 | Savigliano, Italy

A training course for youth workers active in the field of music, young people getting music education and musicians working with groups using nonformal education.

This training course is designed for youth workers, music educators, young musicians and facilitators who want to explore empowerment through music, music as a support tool and emotional resilience in the context of social challenges.

The course will focus on how music can help individuals and communities express emotions, strengthen self-confidence, build connection and find constructive ways to respond to difficult life situations.

Throughout the training, participants will reflect on

  • the role of music as a valuable support tool in youth work and community-based practice
  • use of music in work with refugees, migrants and other groups affected by displacement, exclusion, trauma, or social instability
  • open discussion on how music can be connected with elements of art therapy and how creative musical processes can support emotional well-being, inclusion, and resilience.

An important part of the course will be:

  • exchanging experiences, methods and good practices related to using music in youth work.
  • sharing own approaches and learning from one another how music can become a practical and meaningful tool for participation, communication and social support among young people.

The course will also include a collaborative creative process in mixed groups, where participants will create musical backgrounds for the stories of Ukrainian refugee children.

This activity will encourage participants to work with personal narratives in a sensitive and respectful way, while discovering how music can accompany stories, emotions, and experiences that are often difficult to express in words alone.

By combining reflection, practice, and intercultural cooperation, the training aims to strengthen participants’ competences in using music for emotional resilience, empowerment, inclusion and social support.
