Shadow Theater for Social Change

The aim of this project is to build capacity within 8 partner organizations to apply an innovative approach for boosting civic participation of young people through shadow theater activities.
Sharing good practices between partners on the topic of active participation is also part of the goal of this project.

The project objectives are:

• Increase the skills base within youth workers in 8 partner organizations in order to internationalize their provision and support high quality non-formal education delivery and skills development;
• Experience the shadow theater methodology, paying focus to the social messages it can transfer;
• Educate participants to create shadow theater etudes on social topics to empower their target groups and facilitate social change;
• Provide a learning environment for participants to reflect on the political dimension of youth work and instruments for social change;
• Provide tools for youth workers in order to empower young people for self-responsible initiatives and turn their ideas into concrete civic engagement actions;
• Present social topics to a broader audience through an inclusive shadow theater performance for the local community in Samokov.

Participants from all partner countries will do a follow up event in their country after the training course using shadow theater as a tool for active engagement of young people in civic actions.
