See Beyond - Training of Trainers on Youthpass

Training Course

22-28 November 2021 | Italy

We are happy to invite you – trainers – for a training for trainers on Youthpass and on supporting learning in youth work and solidarity activities!

The main aim of this training of trainers is to strengthen the quality of European youth projects by training trainers of youth workers on facilitating learning in European youth projects. We will focus on the learning dimension as an essential quality factor in European youth programmes and explore the role of Youthpass in supporting awareness of learning.

Objectives:

  • To enhance the implementation of Youthpass as a process and strategy that contributes to the quality of European youth projects;
  • To raise awareness and deepen understanding about the recognition and validation of learning in European youth projects;
  • To support the development of the competences of practitioners and to equip them with various approaches to support the learning dimension in youth work;
  • To build on the awareness within the youth field about the potential of Youthpass, exploring its latest development steps.

The training will address the following topics:

  • Quality aspects of the EU youth programmes from the perspective of supporting learning;
  • Political context of the topic;
  • (The revised) Youthpass as a process and a strategy & how it supports (individual and group) learning;
  • Competences needed to facilitate learning (based on the respective elements in the ETS competence models);
  • Approaches to learning support/facilitation for different roles and across a variety of projects;
  • Practical modules / other type of support and resources for training those who facilitate learning.

Youthpass is the recognition and validation tool of the European youth programmes with over 1 million certificates issued since 2007. The users of Youthpass have said that it has supported them in becoming more aware of their competences and learning, and helped guide them in their future paths. Most users have found it works best when it is accompanied by a facilitated self-reflection and assessment process throughout a project. And here is where you are needed! As trainers of youth workers, you are the crucial multipliers to communicate the value of Youthpass as an education tool and for preparing youth workers to constructively engage with it. This training is designed to support you in that.

The training will address the following topics:

  • Quality aspects of the EU youth programmes from the perspective of supporting learning;
  • Political context of the topic;
  • Reflective learning in youth work and how Youthpass supports individual and group learning:
  • The Youthpass Strategy and its vision to support recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning;
  • Competences needed to facilitate learning (based on the respective elements in the ETS competence models);
  • Approaches to learning support and facilitation for different roles and across a variety of projects;
  • Practical models and other types of support and resources for training those who facilitate learning.

The training will be facilitated by Anita Silva, Mafalda Morganti and Nik Paddison. Please check the attached document to see the draft programme of the training.

Methodology

During the residential part of the training course, the focus will be on using each moment as a learning opportunity by making use of various tools and methods. The approach to learning will include opportunities for the participants to support each other in a variety of ways, in particular through self-directed learning support trios. Spaces will be offered to the participants with specific knowledge and expertise to run workshops for each other. We will be calling on the participants' experience, encouraging their critical thinking and analysis, utilising reflective practice combined with a strong self-responsibility aspect to the learning. We want to explore with the participants, as much as possible, the diversity of possible learning settings.

The residential part of the training course will be accompanied by asynchronous online activities before and after the training.
