Restoration – “Courage is personal but support is collective"

Training Course

15-24 May 2026 | Bansko, Bulgaria

Training course for youth workers on trauma-informed approaches in youth work. Participants will gain practical tools to support vulnerable youth, create safe environments, and promote mental health through non-formal education and international exchange.

The training course “Restoration – Courage is personal but support is collective” is an international mobility activity designed for youth workers, facilitators, educators, and NGO professionals working in the field of non-formal learning and youth work. The project focuses on strengthening the capacity of participants to support young people in vulnerable situations through the application of trauma-informed approaches in their daily practice.

The activity will take place in Bansko, Bulgaria, a beautiful mountain resort, between 15 and 24 May (including travel days), with 8 working days and 2 travel days. It will bring together participants from different European countries, creating a diverse and intercultural learning environment.

The training is based on non-formal education methods and will include interactive workshops, simulations, group work, reflection sessions, and practical exercises. Participants will explore how trauma affects young people’s behaviour, emotions, and participation, and will develop concrete skills for creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments. The programme will also focus on building competencies in empathetic communication, recognising trauma responses, preventing re-traumatisation, and fostering resilience among young people.

This training is specifically targeted at professionals who are actively working with youth, especially those facing social exclusion, mental health challenges, or other vulnerabilities. Participants are expected to be motivated to improve their practice and to transfer the knowledge and tools gained into their organisations and local communities.

The course also aims to encourage the exchange of good practices between participants, strengthen international cooperation, and promote European values such as inclusion, equality, and respect for diversity. Through this experience, participants will not only develop professionally but also contribute to improving the quality and impact of youth work across Europe.
