Maghweb (Others)

Maghweb is a non-profit organisation founded in Palermo in 2014. We are striving for social and territorial justice on a local, regional, national and European level and use communication tools, training programs and project design to improve access to civil rights, services and opportunities. Our inter-disciplinary team works in project management, non-formal education, health promotion, journalism, audio-visual and photographic production, social media and graphic and web design. From our base in Palermo, we build national and international networks that strengthen informed, conscious and engaged communities. We run workshops in schools and community spaces and train teachers and families about Comprehensive Sexuality Education. We work on consent, self-determination, STI prevention, menstrual health, contraception and the deconstruction of stigma. Media literacy is an essential part of our educational pathways: fact-checking and debunking, online safety and consent, countering hate speech, body shaming and non consensual intimate images abuse. Through the “Non è un Veleno” educational-information hub we provide evidence-based information, support people’s navigation of sexual and reproductive health services and push forward collective prevention and care-centred health promotion. A transfeminist, intersectional lens guides every action, with close attention to cultural, linguistic, economic and accessibility barriers.
