Refugees +

Training Course

15-20 May 2017 | Brussels, Belgium - FL

Refugees+ aims to develop the capacity and competences of youth workers to raise awareness of young people about refugee-related issues in order to support the inclusion of refugees in society. The programme is build on the method of non-formal learning.
Background: Since the refugee crisis started, more then 1.000.000 refugees entered Europe, and a high percentage of them were young people between 13-30 years old. European countries are looking for different ways and approaches to deal with this situation. Supporting measures and all kinds of (local) initiatives have been developed. On the other hand reactions of fear, exclusion, xenophobic opinions and a neglection of the basic human rights of these newcomers are a reality we face in all parts of Europe. Content: This training course wants to discuss the main issues and challenges in fostering inclusion of refugees and (newly arrived) migrants. Exploring the role of the youth worker in this process, raising awareness on the topic towards young people, exchange of good practices and tools/methods are some of the themes we will tackle during this training course. Non-formal learning methods will be used throughout the training course. Main objectives: - to exchange information and realities in the different countries of the participants to get a deeper understanding of the diversity of this topic - to deepen the understanding of main concepts, legal frame and terminology on refugees and (newly arrived) migrants - to explore the role(s) of a youth worker in the inclusion process of refugees and (newly arrived) migrants and in the process of raising awareness - to share good practices, tools, methods - to explore further possibilities of projects and cooperations on this topic within the framework of the Erasmus + programme Methodology and programme elements: The methodology of this training course is based on the principles of non-formal learning. This will enable participants to fully participate in the learning process. We will adapt this to the needs and motivation of the participants as well to the group dynamics. A range of working methods will be used such as discussions, presentations, role play, simulation, energizers, reflection temabuilding, field visit, etc.
