Conference – Symposium - Forum
26-27 November 2020 | Online, Netherlands
For the RAN Youth & Education Working Group meeting on ‘Youth isolation, how to get them out of it’ we are currently looking for suitable participants. Reaching out to young people who are vulnerable to harmful content and extremist discourses is challenging for youth workers and teachers. This problem has been strengthened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The aim of this meeting to equip youth workers and teachers with tools and methods to reach out to vulnerable youngsters. It builds on the outcomes of earlier RAN meetings on digital youth work and focuses on tangible tips including the underlying reasoning/academic insights of how to best reach isolated persons/youngsters. Outcomes of the meeting will feed into a short guide or factsheet for youth workers and teachers on how to reach out to isolated youngsters at risk and counter youth isolation. This will include examples of interventions and practices.
Questions that will be leading in this meeting include:
Call for participants
We are currently looking for youth workers, teachers, principals, school counsellors, care teachers, social, community or family workers and local coordinators who have experience with dealing with isolated/vulnerable young people. If you experience challenges on how to deal with this, if you are able to share good (digital) practices or have developed a strategy or approach related to this phenomenon, please send in your motivation to attend this RAN meeting.
We will invite participants based on the information in the registration link. Please keep in mind that we only invite 30 participants for this meeting to ensure valuable exchange and interaction, so participation for this meeting is not guaranteed.

Radicalisation Awareness Network (Others)
About RAN
The Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) is set up by the European Commission as an EU-wide umbrella network of practitioners engaged to prevent and counter radicalisation to violent extremism. RAN acts as a hub in connecting, developing and disseminating expertise. This includes fostering a dialogue between practitioners, policy makers and academics in an inclusive way. By doing so, the RAN develops state-of-the-art knowledge, and supports both the Commission and Member States. Also, it helps shape the Commission's research agenda, and liaises with prevent initiatives inside and outside the EU. RadarEurope leads the consortium.
