Training Course
17-24 August 2026 | Poland
PlayLab: Building Communities Through Experience is an international training course designed for youth workers, trainers, educators, facilitators and community leaders who want to strengthen their competences in using games and experiential learning methods in youth work.
Games have the unique ability to bring people together, create meaningful connections, encourage participation and support personal and social development. Through this training, participants will explore how game-based learning can be used to build trust, strengthen communication, foster inclusion and create vibrant communities where young people feel safe, valued and actively engaged.
The programme combines experiential learning, practical workshops, simulations and reflection processes. Participants will develop facilitation and game-mastering skills, learn how to design and adapt educational games, and gain confidence in leading group processes, debriefing activities and supporting learning outcomes. Special attention will be given to the role of games in promoting social cohesion, inclusion and active participation among diverse groups of young people.
The training includes modules on community building through play, experiential learning, facilitation and game-master skills, debriefing and reflection, games for social impact, inclusive communities, and practical game-master simulations where participants can test and strengthen their competences in a supportive environment.
Before the residential training, participants will take part in an online preparatory meeting aimed at introducing the programme, creating initial connections within the group and preparing for the learning journey.
Following the training, participants are expected to transfer and disseminate the knowledge, methods and experiences gained during the course within their own organisations, local communities and professional practice. They will be encouraged to organise follow-up activities and use game-based learning as a tool for education, inclusion, community building and youth participation.
The training will also provide an opportunity to create an international network of facilitators and youth workers committed to using experiential learning and games to strengthen communities and support positive social change.
