Play for Media Literacy

Training Course

10-18 November 2025 | Bansko, Bulgaria

The project will address the growing challenges of misinformation, disinformation, fake news, and conspiracy theories by fostering digital media literacy and critical thinking through educational board games.

In today’s digital world, the line between truth and falsehood is increasingly blurred. Young people are daily exposed to a flood of online content, much of which includes misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories that can shape opinions, influence behavior, and polarize societies. The Erasmus+ project responds to this urgent challenge by empowering youth and educators to become critical, informed, and responsible digital citizens through the innovative use of educational board games.

The project transforms complex and abstract topics—such as fake news, manipulation techniques, and media bias—into interactive, game-based learning experiences. By co-designing and playing educational board games, participants will explore how information spreads, how narratives are constructed, and how to recognize and counter deceptive tactics. This playful and creative approach will make learning about digital media literacy engaging, accessible, and collaborative.

Beyond awareness, the project aims to build concrete competences. Through experiential learning, participants will strengthen their ability to analyze digital content, verify sources, and think critically about what they consume and share online. Educators and youth workers will be trained to integrate these innovative tools into their educational practices, multiplying the project’s impact across schools, youth centers, and communities.

International cooperation is at the heart of the initiative. By connecting young people and professionals from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, the project fosters dialogue, inclusion, and shared responsibility in addressing information challenges that transcend borders. Through collaboration, co-creation, and play, participants will not only gain valuable digital and civic competences but also contribute to building a more informed, resilient, and democratic Europe.

Aim:

The project will address the growing challenges of misinformation, disinformation, fake news, and conspiracy theories by fostering digital media literacy and critical thinking through educational board games. By turning complex issues into playful and collaborative learning experiences, the project will equip young people and educators with the skills to question sources, detect manipulation, and responsibly navigate tomorrow’s information landscape. Co-creating and playing board games will make the fight against false information engaging, creative, and impactful, and will help participants become more resilient, informed, and active digital citizens.
