Play for Human Rights

Play for Human Rights is an international training course for youth workers taking place in Dobczyce, Poland, from 23 to 31 October 2026. The project will bring together 24 youth workers from eight countries for a seven-day learning programme focused on Human Rights Education (HRE), Intercultural Learning (ICL) and democratic participation.

The central methodology of the training will be an immersive, long-form role-play simulation. Through experiential learning, participants will explore human dignity, equality, discrimination, cultural diversity, democracy and civic engagement. They will learn how to design, facilitate and debrief educational simulations that foster empathy, critical thinking, intercultural dialogue and active citizenship among young people.

The programme will combine practical exercises, role-play, group reflection, structured debriefing, self-assessment and collaborative design. Participants will strengthen their competences in facilitation, programme development, intercultural communication, inclusion, evaluation and safe and ethical youth-work practice, in line with the European Training Strategy Competence Model for Youth Workers.

Throughout the training, participants will co-create and test at least five transferable workshops addressing human rights, discrimination, equality, diversity and democratic participation. The developed methods will be suitable for adaptation to different youth-work settings and to the needs of young people with fewer opportunities, including young people from migrant, Roma, rural and NEET backgrounds.

The project will also support participating organisations in integrating simulation-based Human Rights Education and Intercultural Learning into their regular activities. After the training, participants will be expected to transfer the acquired knowledge to their local communities, organise follow-up activities and contribute to the dissemination and visibility of the project and its results.

Participant profile

Applicants should:

be at least 18 years old;

be able to communicate and participate actively in English;

be available for the entire duration of the training course;

be youth workers, educators, trainers, facilitators, volunteers or professionals working with young people from diverse backgrounds;

be interested in Human Rights Education, Intercultural Learning, experiential education and democratic participation;

be motivated to participate actively in an intensive, immersive learning process;

be ready to adapt and use the acquired methods in their own youth-work practice;

be willing to organise or support a local follow-up activity after the training;

contribute to the dissemination and visibility of the project in their organisation and local community.
