PAX Europea
a training course on active citizenship, conflict transformation and non violence.
This project aims at fostering co-operation between Programme Countries and partner countries, namely East Europe and Caucasus Region, through training the participants in the basics of conflict management and transformation and in promoting the culture of peace and dialogue and ensuring the multiplying effects at a local and international level.
The target group is young representatives from youth Civil Society Organisations across the European Union and EECA countries with no, or little previous experience of youth in action projects, coming from organisations that deal with conflict transformation, average/good proficiency in English, and willing to be more involved in their organisations both at local and international level.
Moreover the training team foresees the figure of Coach, concerning the part where participants will develop local and transnational action plans to promote the culture of peace, as when the training will be over the team of trainers will monitor the working groups.
Objectives:
The following objectives have been set in order to reach a successful training:
• This project orginated from the original idea of Building Bridges in Conflict Areas implemented by SALTO EECA, SEE and Euromed, as it was mostly succesful in the past in number and quality of actions both local and international implemented between programme and partner countries.
• This projects aims at developing skills, knowledge and attitudes for participants to be able to deal with interpersonal up to group conflicts, and to be provided the tools to transform them into peaceful dialogue processes.
• This project aims at raising awareness on conflicts as such, starting with conflict recognition, then develops into identifying forms or prevention, as well as of management through mediation and negotiation.
• Raising knowledge about each other’s situations and providing means of support such as Youth in Action will help raising in participants a sense of belonging to Europe and Europe was the body that brought the together and fosters co-operation among them. This will be the main mean to promote intercultural dialogue amongst participants, to let them in more than one occasion be aware of their cultural, social, geographical and political differences and similiarities as well as taking the participant’s experiences as case-studies.
