Partnership Building Activity (PBA) "Youth participation for sustainable local democracies"

Partnership-building Activity

17-24 September 2023 | Molina, Spain

The PBA is designed to create a space for developing cooperation projects that link young people, environmental policies and local democracies. It is organised in the framework of the University on Youth and Development.

The activity will serve as a platform for networking and getting to know other European organisations working in the area of youth participation in decision-making processes at the local level to develop projects that can promote and enhance the participation of young people in designing local policies in general and environmental policies in particular.

We will analyse the state of democracy in modern societies to help participants better understand the challenges and opportunities faced by European democracies and find ways to foster quality youth participation in decision-making processes at the local level. The programme will explore ways in which young climate activists can participate in the creation of local environmental and other youth policies as a way of contributing to building more just and sustainable local democracies.

The participants will explore the framework of support provided under the Erasmus+ programme and take a closer look at the priorities it promotes and key actions it offers as tools to support their project ideas. They will map key problems related to the environment and its link to peacebuilding in their local communities and create sustainable partnerships that aim to answer these challenges with the support of the Erasmus+ programme.

The Partnership Building Activity will be based on the non-formal education methodology, which includes sharing practices, mutual dialogue, exploring engagement theories, and planning concrete steps by building partnerships for future projects to implement the practices in the local environment to foster youth participation in decision-making processes with a particular focus on environmental policies.

During this PBA activity, we aim to create new projects and initiatives among the participating organisations, that will contribute to new and long-lasting cooperation in the youth field in Europe.

The expected results of the PBA are:

- Bringing together partners from Europe k to develop further their knowledge of European youth policy framework, youth participation and democracy projects;

- Exploring ways in which youth participation in creating local environmental policies contributes to building stronger, more sustainable and more peaceful local democracies;

- Exchanging of expertise, experience and good practices of youth work at the local level;

- Building fruitful and long-lasting partnerships;

- Develop new projects in the framework of the existing European programmes that will be applied in the coming deadlines.

The programme of the PBA will be integrated into the programme of the University on Youth and Development (UYD). Some of the sessions will be a part of the Joint programme together with the participants of other activities taking place simultaneously at UYD.
