Participative Groupmethods for (International) Youth Work

Training Course

19-27 May 2005 | Weimar, Germany

The objectives are: 1. Introduce and train large group methods as a tool of active participation, 2. Develop future co-operation, 3. Increase the awareness of the importance of participation, 4. Adapt methods for work with socially disadvantaged youngsters, 5. Involve the local environment in Weimar. The training course consists of the following parts (draft): 19th of May: arrival + welcome 20th of May: getting to know each other; Expectations; Programme’s introduction; preparing the “Café participation” – opens every day (method: World Café --> http://www.theworldcafe.com/); intercultural evening and dinner in the Café 21st to 23rd of May: 3-day training in ToP® (http://www.ica-usa.org/programs/cop.html) 24th of May: free morning; non-competitive games (e.g. www.newgames.org.uk); prep-meeting for an open space (www.openspaceworld.org) 25th of May: open space on “participation” with local partners 26th of May: action-planning (part of open space) --> future co-operation; evaluation 27th of May: departure Possible participants: youth leaders (18-XX years) – social and educational; project co-ordinators; young trainers; active youth; youth workers; community workers; social workers; social pedagogues; youth councillors; OS Weimar/Slovenia group; youth from political parties; school councils Criteria to be selected: serious interest; to be able to make use of method/s taught; integrate the learned into “regular programme” of the organisation; ability to develop future projects in the EU YOUTH Programme
