Our Feelings Deck: Training of Facilitators

Training Course

7-13 March 2027 | Garlstedt, close to Bremen, Germany

A hands-on training for practitioners who want to develop their own SEL practice and confidently facilitate game-based social-emotional learning with young people aged 10–18.

Our Feelings Deck: Training of Facilitators is an international training course designed for youth workers, trainers, facilitators, group leaders, school counselors, and educators active in non-formal education and youth work. The training responds to the growing need for youth work professionals to foster Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), mental well-being, and emotional resilience among young people (aged 10–18) through practical, game-based, and non-formal methodologies.

The methodology begins with the participants themselves. Before learning how to facilitate SEL with young people, participants are invited to explore their own emotional awareness, communication, relationships, regulation, and ways of responding to others. Through games, movement, creative exercises, reflection, and peer dialogue, participants experience the Our Feelings Deck methodology from the inside first. From this personal experience, participants move into facilitation practice—learning how to create psychological safety, work with emotional intensity, support co-regulation, and adapt activities to different group dynamics and contexts.

Throughout the training course, participants will work directly with the newly co-designed Our Feelings Deck (consisting of 52 emotion cards and 25 game-based SEL activities) and its accompanying Facilitator Guidebook. The course bridges practical youth work with established reference frameworks, connecting CASEL social-emotional competencies with the European Training Strategy (ETS) Youth Worker Competence Model.

Designed for practitioners currently active in local youth work or international projects, this course provides space for experiential learning, peer exchange, and practical skill development. Each participant will receive a free physical copy of the toolkit and 3 months of follow-up online coaching and mentoring from experienced psychologists and senior trainers to support local implementation and workshop delivery after the course.
