Online Public Forum - AP8 - European Parliament elections, e-democracy, democratic participation, and main challenges for future generations.

Conference – Symposium - Forum

29 June 2023 | Online, Greece

Online Public Forum focusing on European Parliament elections, e-democracy, and youth democratic participation. Goal is to empower bottom-up approach, and uncover new ideas, helping youh workers broaden their approach and improve their competences.

Online public forum is a part of the Active8 & Particp8 project , primarily for youth leaders and youth  workers. The intent is to provide a venue for focused discussions on European Parliament elections, e-democracy, and democratic participation, and utilising that as framework to improve teaching approach in social sciences with young people.

The forum will facilitate an understanding of the met and unmet needs of the youth and promote a bottom-up approach to problem-solving. It will also collect feedback from young people, encouraging them to share their ideas and concerns, some of which may not have been previously considered.

Emphasizing the importance of e-democracy tools and digital solutions, the forum aims to demonstrate their effectiveness in improving youth engagement. These technological avenues can play a pivotal role in democratizing dialogues and fostering civic participation.

After the Forum, participants can expect to be able to answer questions like:

Should every vote count the same in democratic society? Can drinking a coffee with my friends be political?Am I apolitical? Can I be apolitical in the first place? How Education is (not) contributing their understanding of society?

A certificate of attendance to acknowledge their participation.

The public forum is part of the AP8 project, an initiative funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), CERV-2022-CITIZENS-CIV, Citizens’ Engagement and Participation strand. The project partnership comprises three European organizations: CESIE (Italy, coordinator), ERASMUS STUDENT NETWORK (ESN) Dubrovnik (Croatia), and ACTIVE CITIZENS PARTNERSHIP (Greece).

The collective goal of these organizations is to encourage active citizenship participation, enhance democratic engagement, empower EU citizens, and raise awareness among young people about the European Parliament and EU structure.

We invite interested participants to join this vital conversation and contribute to the discourse on strengthening democratic participation. Further details about the exact date and time of the forum will be provided soon.
