ONLINE COURSE: PLAY- Plan for Active Youth

E-learning

24-27 November 2020 | ONLINE, Portugal

A training course focused on increasing the impact of youth participation in local communities by sharing methods and good practices.

Youngsters and Youth Workers play an important role in communities but for them to be more successful they must feel empowered and active.

Exploring three main components of youth work: active participation, empowerment and recognising learning with different non formal and informal methods, the course will approach participants to different youth work realities.

PLAY will be a space for the exchange of new methods in the Youth Work field and for the creation of innovating activities for young people, by studding together the problems and needs of the youngsters in our society.

Summarising, PLAY will give the opportunity to create new lines and develop new ideas on Youth Work and get to know other methods used in several countries, always with the active participation and empowerment as basis.

The TC is built on the following objectives:

  • to explore the concept of Youth Participation and Empowerment and the role it has in the local communities;
  • to equip youth workers and leaders with tools necessary to support youth participation amongst young people;
  • to reflect on youth workers’ own paths of participation
  • to exchange good practices of youth participation, empowerment and Learning and develop new ideas for local youth work.
  • encourage the participants to work together in other Key Actions of the E+ Youth in Action Programme.

With this overall and objectives we intend that participants achieve the following outcomes:

  • understand the important role of youth participation in local communities;
  • conceptualize the deeper meaning of youth empowerment and its benefit to local community, young people and organisations;
  • to enhance the quality of youth projects under Erasmus + Programme and European Solidarity Corps;
  • apply new methods for recognising learning and developing competences with young people in the daily work;
  • identify partners for future projects and create active plans for and with young people.

Methodology & Technical requirements:

Online meetings and learning processes could be a little similar with the traditional presential forms but there are also some differences in terms of how to get prepared, how dynamics and interaction are managed.

The programme consists of interactive sessions, presentations and exploration of the topic(s) using different online tools. Allowing the group to share their experiences and build on new knowledge coming from inputs and exercises.

The sessions will be divided between plenary sessions, facilitated work in smaller groups and individually reflection.  Participants are expected to take part in the whole training course, and contribute with their opinions and experience.

Technical equipment needed:

Computer with camera and microphone and reliable internet connection.

Online Tools:

- for our LIVE SESSIONS/ teleconference needs, we will be using the webinar software “ZOOM” - https://zoom.us

This platform allows  to chat with each other and aldo create smaller working groups, share our screen so everyone can see, react with a push of a button (thumbs up, clapping, go faster/slower, i need a break etc), chat the whole group or personally, create polls and collaborate.

-to perform certain tasks individually and/or in group, to get access to downloaded videos and more extensive documents that can be of your interest, as well as to have access to a forum, technical help and surveys we will be using "CANVAS" - canvas.net

Additional Tools for Learning:

Sometimes, we’ll use the "MIRO" for annotations, placing posts, uploading images, drawings and other things...

For our presentations, we can also use "KAHOOT" and "PADLET", very creative tools that can be used for multiple tasks and activities such as quizzes and games, presentations of Organisations and participants.

Importante note: All selected participants will also be invited to a welcome session on 24 November - the day before the activity beginning - to explore the main tools that will be used along the course, to share needs and expectations, to have a first contact among themselves and the team and solve technical issues (please see the draft Programme in attach)
