MONEY DOES NOT GROW ON TREES

Training Course

15-22 July 2019 | Dvur Kralove nad Labem, Czech Republic

Learning how to take care of money at a young age can be crucial in ensuring good finances later in life. By implementing the two-phase project, we want to contribute to financial literacy in society by educating young people in their personal finances.

The training course will provide and improve basic financial literacy knowledge and entrepreneurship skills among youth. So to contribute to their future employability chances and how to make economic and financial decisions, teach them how to learn with interest and think outside the box.

Participants' profile:
-youth, youth leaders, volunteers, who need training in financial literacy (FL) and/or would like to become able to share it with their peers back home.

Objectives:
- Motivate the participants to reflect on their past experience and to identify best practices, creative tools in order to gain knowledge and skills of FL
- To offer an opportunity for self-assessment of the participants, the embedding of the findings in the personal/professional development plan
- To give the participants a possibility to train some basic business skills, for example through simulation games and facilitating their final products. So to increase sense of
initiative and entrepreneurship.
- To give the participants the possibility to experience the dynamics of the multicultural group through multiple layers of sharing experiences and learn from each other
- To empower youth by providing them tools for successful personal budget planning and
management
- Raise awareness about learning opportunities in Erasmus + projects for young people

Main elements of the project: non-formal based methodology, based on learning by doing, highly participative, brainstorming, stimulation, and role games, visual and digital tools (video, photography, etc), basic business workshops, presentations, Study visits, etc.

Today many European countries addressed the challenges of developing a national strategy for financial education. Some countries, for example as the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic (who are partners in this project), have revised or are revising their first national strategy, Portugal and Turkey are implementing their first one, others are in the process of designing/ developing their first national strategy.

To take into account the variety of (public and other) stakeholders with an interest and expertise in financial education, some countries have created collective bodies that are involved to various extents in the leadership and implementation of the national strategy. These bodies involve, depending on country circumstances and context, non-profit and private institutions alongside public ones. We believe that our project has the opportunity to raise awareness of training in financial literacy among non-profit organizations, as well as youth. We aimed to support the comfortable transition of financial literacy knowledge and skills to the young generation with the assistance of partner organizations and the local community.

KURO Hradec Kralove z.s. (Youth NGO)

KURO Hradec Králové (KURO HK) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization which aims at promotion of voluntary experience as real work and life experience with help of small scale cultural events. In addition, we focus on regional NGO networking and sharing through volunteering. We added international educational projects, both as hosting (we organize them in Hradec Kralove) and sending organization.

The staff of KURO HK works in the environment of youth work for more than six years and have witnessed gradual development of various youth projects and their educational content through Europe. One of the stronger topics is the Financial Literacy of young people. Lack of orientation in topic creates several problems in society and we believe that our project has the opportunity to raise awareness of it; training in financial literacy among non-profit organizations, as well as youth. We aimed to support the comfortable transition of financial literacy knowledge and skills to the young generation with the assistance of partner organizations and the local community.
