Mentoring for Impact: Supporting Volunteers Beyond the Project

Training Course

20-24 July 2026 | Bucharest, Romania

Mentoring for Impact is a training course for mentors, coordinators, and youth workers involved in European Solidarity Corps projects who want to strengthen the long-term impact of mentoring and better support volunteers beyond the project experience.

Volunteering experiences can be life-changing. Their impact often depends on how well they are supported, reflected and connected to what comes next.

Would you like to increase the impact of mentoring on personal and professional development and growth, social integration and civic engagement? Would you like to strengthen your mentoring practice and help volunteers turn their experience into meaningful next steps?

If you are working with volunteers and wondering how to better prepare them for the life after their project, we invite you to join “Mentoring for Impact: Supporting Volunteers Beyond the Project”, a training course focussing on impactful mentoring in ESC projects.

During this international training course, you will explore how mentoring can go beyond day-to-day support and become a meaningful process that helps volunteers understand their learning, navigate transitions and shape their future pathways.

You will work on three interconnected areas:

supporting volunteers’ learning and helping them recognize their competences

supporting volunteers’ well-being, especially during moments of change and transition

supporting volunteers in connecting their experience to their values, identity and future direction

A special focus of the training will be on how mentors can help volunteers translate their ESC experience into concrete personal and professional steps after the project.

During the training, we will:

explore ways to strengthen the impact of mentoring in your projects

practice mentoring conversations

work with tools for reflection, learning and future planning

Of course, there will also be time and space to connect and network with other mentoring practitioners working in ESC projects, share stories and experiences, and build a shared understanding of impactful mentoring.

At the end of the training, you will receive a Youthpass certificate.

The Mentoring under Construction Community is open for everyone who is interested in raising the quality in mentoring within European Solidarity Corps programme (and beyond): mentors, including those, who just embark into this journey and those, who mentor other mentors, project managers/organisers developing and implementing volunteering projects, coordinators of volunteers, facilitators of learning, authors and trainers creating tools and resources about mentoring, and last, but not least, members of National Agencies and SALTO Resource Centres.

The Mentoring under Construction Community aims at:

building a common understanding of key concepts around the role of a mentor (role, responsibilities, competences) as well as how to develop and implement mentoring programmes within volunteering organisations,

developing personal and professional competence to keep up with the emerging challenges in the field of mentoring,

sharing knowledge, resources and good practices,

building a vibrant network of people engaged in mentoring, ready to support one another, learn and develop.
